外研版高中英语教材评价

我所在的黑龙江省已经进行新课改多年,教材也从我高中时使用的人教版变成了现在学生使用的外研社版教材,以下是我对外研版高中英语教材的几点认识:

1.新教材采取必修课与选修课相结合的课程设置模式,为学生提供多种选择,以适应个性需求。英语高中教材共分11个模块:学生学完必修1-5模块,掌握2500的词汇量,将会达到课程标准7级要求;学完顺序选修6-8模块,将会达到3500的词汇量(3000个单词和400—500个习惯用语或固定搭配)和课程标准8级的要求。高中英语课程既关注社会的需求,也满足不同学生的发展需求,为每个学生提供自主选择和自我发展的机会。

2.新教材的设计以人为本,以学生的年龄和认知能力为基础,注重了初高中英语知识技能的的衔接,在必修1-5的教材中,内容贴近生活,文字简单易懂,比如必修1的第一模块My First Day at Senior High,介绍一个高中新生第一天到校的情况,课文中用的语言也是很简单的,例如必修1 中的课文及习题是初中学习中经常出现的表达,类似的语言反复出现,其实就是复习初中英语知识,对初高中的英语起到了较好的衔接作用。高中阶段的英语教材呈现出一种阶梯状,初中过渡到高中,难度逐步递增,符合学生的认知能力,为学生的在英语上的进一步学习深造打下了扎实的基础,也培养了学生的自主发展能力。

3.新教材重视词汇的学习和词汇学习能力的培养。除了在书后面附有词汇表外,每个模块中都有多种关于词汇训练的题型,在教材词汇题型中有很多是根据句子的描述选择正确的单词与之相匹配,这体现出英语课标更注重培养学生用英语思维和理解的能力,还有一部分题型是让学生按照几类意思将单词分别归纳出来,由识别、理解到运用训练,可以提高学生的综合语言运用能力,这是语言学习过程中不可缺少的学习策略,符合语言学习的规律。此外,每个单元出现的单词较多,但是经过对这些单词的分析,我们可以发现单词表中很多单词是具有相同词根的词,这样既又便于学生理解学习,还可以渗透词根的教学,便于学生背单词。面对3500个词汇的学习要求,这就需要教师在日常教学活动中培养学生学习单词的方法,如词根记忆法、读音记忆法等,以提高学生的词汇学习能力,有效扩

展词汇量。

4.采用新的语法呈现方式。相比过去旧教材传统的语法教学方法,新教材中有关语法学习更具有创新性,采用的是发现式语法学习法,首先通过例句的分析,设置语言情境,让学生自己发现规律并总结,这使得原本枯燥的语法学习变得更生动形象,之后再配以练习和实践,更易于让学生理解和掌握。其实语法学习重在个人的对这类语言现象的体会,如果生硬的灌输语法知识,往往只能事倍功半,而发现式语法学习法更注重通过自我认知能力来理解英语的语言现象,并转化英语语言的运用能力。同时,新教材的语法学习淡化了语法的理论知识,更强调学生的理解和运用能力,熟能生巧,而语言学习主要在于对语言的感知力,因此这也符合学习语法的认知规律。

6. 课改新教材的内容真实地道。如果说必修1-5的课文内容还对中国学生来说还比较简单易懂,那么选修6的课文内容无论是在词汇还是句型上都更地道鲜活,新教材为学生呈现的是原汁原味的英语。其中阅读文章主要摘自英语国家报刊杂志,甚至有原版小说节选,未经过任何修改,如选修6模块2的一篇Reading: The Cat That Vanished 就是节选自原版著名奇幻小说《The Dark Materials》;还有一个专门的模块叫做Culture Corner,内容多选自原版英文读物。新教材的这些设计都是为了让学生在真实鲜活的语言中学习地道纯正的英语。

7. 教材特别关注学生的学习策略的培养。除了上文中提到的词汇学习方法外,每个模块中都穿插有一两个这样的版块,虽然版面很小,但是其在整个新教材中的作用是不容忽视的,这个部分叫:“Learning to learn”(学会学习)。这个部分的内容看似跟模块没关联,但是其实它是在介绍英语的学习方法,教会学生在英语学习中的一些实际有效的方法,我们教师在教学活动中应该重视Learning to learn这个小方块,短短几句简单话,但是都是点点滴滴学习英语的实践技能,对这个小方块的学习正如我们平常所说:“日积月累”,三年高中学习,能有效的帮助学生掌握英语学习中的一些实用小方法。

8.新教材的题材丰富多样,包含了体育、学校、生活、风俗文化、科学、文学等,涉及到我们生活、学习、工作的多个方面,当今信息时代,网络上的各种媒体资源以及专门为英语教学服务的网站为各个层次的英语教学提供了丰富的资源, 因此,为了使教学更加形象生动,激发学生的英语学习兴趣,开阔眼界,

教师在教学活动中应多使用电脑、互联网等各种多媒体教学设施。

9.新教材内容丰富,题材多样,每个模块的内容设计都充分考虑了对学生英语听、说、读、写技能的培养,但是如何让课堂教学真正高效,需要教师根据所教学生的具体学情,如认知能力和情感价值态度等对教材进行科学合理的整合,对教学内容进行适当取舍,使学生在每一节课都能有所获,对每个知识能过手掌握,有效地教学。

但是教学时间是很有限的,高一学生一个星期只有5节英语课,要求完成一个模块的教学任务,这其中包括单词知识点的讲解,语法的讲练,习题的讲解,每节课都需要大容量快速地完成教学任务。而新教材的知识点多而杂,很消耗时间,这就迫使我在上课的过程中不能平铺直叙地讲教材,而是将教材中的知识点抽出单独讲解,将知识点挖深挖全,提高课堂的深度。而每个单元教材上(来自:www.Hn1c.cOm 唯 才教 育网:黑龙江高中英语教材)讲解的语法更要单独讲解,使得每一次的语法学习都达到高考的标准,在高一就为学生三年的英语学习打下良好的语法基础。争取在第一次学习就学懂学透,以防止学夹生了造成以后学习的误区。而教材上的课文又是很地道的,也是符合现阶段的学生的阅读程度的,所以我会利用早自习的时间要求学生集中阅读本单元的主课文,culture corner,以及课后习题的文章,要求学生总结出文章的主要内容并做好文章后面的习题。在阅读的过程中学生可以自己画出自己认为的重点及不明白的点,上课时会利用小块的时间进行集中讲解,这样就可以兼顾教材和学习进度,有效率地学习。

教材至少一个文本,任何的文本都只是教学的一个工具,工具有先进和落后之分,教材也有它的优点和缺点,没有十全十美的教材。作为一名优秀的教师,不应只会教教材,而应学会如何用教材教,即对现有教材根据学生的认知实际、教师的教学风格、所学的语言特点以及语言教学环境等具体情况进行优化整合。 但如何实现对教材文本的优化整合呢? 结合在国外研修中学习的教学理论和两年来对新教材的探索实践,专家探索出一种四步教材整合方法,即SOAR 教材法,我在市里的新教师培训课上学到了这种方法。SOAR 不失为是一种容易掌握,且行之有效的教材整合办法。所谓SOAR 就是处理教材的四种方法的英文缩写,他们分别是

S = supplement: add(增补);

O = omit :don’t use(删减);

R = replace: use something else(替换);

A = adapt: change; adjust(变通/调整)。

这四种方法其实是一个整体,是统一在对课程标准、学生认知实际、教师教学风格和教学效率四位一体之上的。教师对SOAR 的运用必须有着十分清晰的课程和教学哲学认识,能从新课程的理念,从现代语言特别是第二语言习得的高度上把握整体地SOAR 教材的方法。所有SOAR 的结果不是体现在方便教师完成教学任务,而是体现在促进学生更好地掌握学习内容,体现在教师如何更有效地帮助学生掌握应知应会语言材料,促进学生学习能力的提高上。这样说来,基于学生的认知水平和认知特点是SOAR 教材的重要原则。 教学是活的,语言是活的,课堂也是活的,活生生的教学情境是我们实际教学生发、展开和结果的场 所。教师是这一场所的指导者和导演者,要承担起自己就是课程的责任,在教学中充分展现自己的教学机智和智慧,应该灵活地,依据个人教学特点和课堂情境SOAR 教材。也应该体现对教材的有效性整合,追求高效教学。
