提高英语听力课堂教学效果的反思

摘要:长期以来,听力一直是学生学习英语的薄弱环节,在各类英语考试中,听力理解是学生最没有把握的项目之一。因此,提高学生听力能力迫在眉睫。

本文将指出学生在听力学习过程中存在的问题,并结合本人经验提出一些听力策略和训练方法,以达到提高学生英语听力水平的目的。

关键词:英语听力 课堂教学 听力水平 教学效果

一、目前学生在听力学习过程中存在的问题,

1.语音的辨别能力低

现在的学生由于在高中阶段把大部分的精力主要用在了笔试的上面,对发音不是很重视。一个单词如果只是单纯地读出来,大家可能不知道是什么单词,可是等在纸上写出这个单词的时候,他们会恍然大悟。原来是他们认识的单词。为什么不能靠声音分别出单词呢?主要就是自己读那个单词的语音同别人的有点不一样。

2.词汇量不够大,语法方面的知识不熟练

每次在做听力的过程中,总有学生抱怨有很多生单词,听不懂。他们的词汇量太少了。词汇量的多少也直接影响着英语听力水平的提高速度。但在占有大量的词汇量的同时,在听力资料中也肯定会出现一定数量大家所不会的单词,那么就要求大家在扩大词汇量的同时,在听力培养训练中。要会根据所听资料内容,根据上下文、背景、说话人的语气、语调上来猜测一些生词的意思。这种能力的培养也是十分必要和重要的。

在日常学习中,我们也要注意对语法项目的学习,只有熟练地掌握语法知识,才能在听力理解时快速反应各个不同的语法内容。在听力中我们常常会碰到一些虚拟语气、比较级、情态动词的推测性用法等一些关于语法方面的考题。比如说if only和only if这两个词组中,如果出现虚拟语气,那么就是与现在的情况相反,可是能听懂这样的句子,就是不会选择正确的答案,这主要是因为语法知识的不熟练。

3.主要内容抓不住,没有听到重要细节

在听的过程中,要每个词都听懂,对大部分学生来说是不大可能的。只要听懂中心内容,就能理解领会全文。在做听力中,首先学会的就是抓关键词。但部分学生不善于在听时抓主要内容。他们只根据本材料中的只言片语就断章取义地进行理解,不能通过对各个局部的理解快速找到上下文间的联系,结果对整段内容产生片面的理解,得出错误的结论。 听力不仅要求学生听懂材料的主要内容和中心思想,而且要求学生听懂能说明主题的重要细节。重要内容和关键词固然重要,但是在每年的考试中,除了主旨大意题,还有一些细节题。对于那些影响整篇材料的重要细节更必须弄清楚,因为它们有助于对整篇材料的理解。例如:人名、地名、时间、年代、数字等。学生在听的过程中往往忽视对以上重要细节的记忆与分辨,结果对与重大细节有关的选择题难以下手。

4.缺乏正确的听力习惯,听力技巧缺乏

有些学生觉得听力就是用耳朵听东西的问题。他们习惯于在听的过程中只用耳朵,不喜欢去做一些小笔记,也不喜欢在听之前看看选项或是猜猜话题什么的。实际上听力是眼、耳、手、脑共同合作的一个操作过程,同时还要学会强记。

由于学生在大学的学习阶段中。没有什么专门的听力课,因而涉及到听力解题技巧的知识很少。有时候有些习题如果掌握了一定的技巧做起来就不会那么难了。

5.背景知识太狭窄

听力材料内容广泛,涉及天文、地理、人物、历史、科技、文艺、教育、医学、体育等诸多领域。由于学生知识面太狭窄,缺乏对英语国家的风土人情、历史背景、文化差异的了解,所以往往听完一篇材料后对其内容一知半解,甚至不知所云,结果影响了理解。

二.提高英语听力课堂教学效果的方法 (1) 狠抓英语基础。首先,纠正学生的语音。在学生刚入校上听力课之初,老师就应该纠

正学生的发音,让学生对于基本的语音听力技能包括:语音,语调,重音,语速等有基本的认识,而这些技能的提高主要通过多读,所以学生必须大声的朗读书本及可带材料上的句子、单词,在课堂上跟读纯正的英语发音,纠正自己所带来的地方音的英语,在跟读过程中,教师应引导学生注意英语中特殊的发音现象如:弱读,连读,爆破,重音,同化等,培养语感,熟悉英语的发音规律,同时体会不同的语调及节奏对于表达语义的不同作用。一旦掌握了朗读时英文的语调变化规律,对于材料的听力理解也就大大提高了。其次,要增加学生的词汇量,促进语法知识的掌握,对于听力材料中所遇到的重点生词,教师应该在听之前给学生做以引导及解释,让学生慢慢地积累每节课所学到的生单词及典型的句子,增强学生的词汇量。同时要反复训练语法项目,让学生熟练地掌握语法知识,才能在听力理解时快速反应各个不同的语法内容,理清听力材料上下文的逻辑关系,为听力的判断,推理奠定良好基础。

(2) 严抓听力课堂三步曲,提高课堂效果。

1.“听前”阶段(Pre-listening Stage):“

①背景导入,头脑风暴。教师可以介绍相关话题的世界各地的风土人情,文化习俗,伟人事迹等,以激活学生已有的相关话题的背景知识,激发学生好奇心,产生听的欲望与兴趣。同时引导学生充分利用头脑风暴的形式,罗列出相关话题的关键词,为学生听力理解打下基础。

②预测活动。让学生根据所提供的需要作答的听力题目,选项等进行预测,根据所听的主题句进行预测,根据谈话人的身份,谈话地点,谈话语气等进行预测,根据结束语等来预测。有的空根据上下文,语法,习惯用语,背景,常识就可以预测到答案。

2.“听中”阶段(While-listening Stage )

①理解主旨大意,记录要点。“听中”学生捕捉关键信息、理解内容的重要环节。教师应让学生边听边记,特别是把听力材料中最能反映和概括事物特征与本质的关键词,如人名,地名,年月日,年龄,价格,数字等记录下来。并注意捕捉文中所涉及的人物who,事件what,时间when,地点where,方式how,程度how long/how soon/how much,选择which…,数字how many/how much等,以便检查答案。再记笔记的过程中,用一些自己可辨认的数字,简单符号,字母,缩写形式等来速记。要求学生完整地听文章,遇到长单词只记首尾部分。听2,3遍时,再进行修改,补充与完善。

②自主完成与小组合作相结合

学生在把握主要内容之后,教师可以引导学生带着问题再听1-2遍,并且适时做停顿直到学生听懂,对于直接可从原文某处得出答案的问题,要求学生独立回答,核对答案。对于难度较大的可以让学生四人一组,小组合作讨论得出答案。

③“听后”阶段(post-listening Stage)

通过以上教学活动,在学生对听力材料内容基本掌握的基础上,可以设计复述,转述,评论,对话,争论等,构成听-说活动,可以设计填空,简写,改写等,构成听-写活动,可以设计角色扮演,制作海报等,构成听-做活动,把听说读写四环节有机结合起来,使听力教学变得丰满。

要做好课后练习的指导:要听懂母语之外的语言,决不是件轻而易举的事,仅靠我们教材中的听力训练和教材是远远不够的,最好能给学生提供大量的教学录影带和录音带等,建议学生进行大量的课外练习。 (3) 利用多媒体技术,网络资源等手段提高学生学习英语听力兴趣。传统的听力教学手段,

即教师放录音材料,让学生反复去听,然后根据材料中的内容做一些习题联系,这样很容易让学生产生依赖,厌倦的心理,从而使学生丧失了主动去学习的积极性。而多媒体技术能为学生创造良好的学习环境,它将文本、声音、图形、图像、动画等效果结合起来,使学生置身于生动的语言环境中,,从而大大提高了教学的直观性,增强了学生学习的主动性和积极性,激发了他们的学习热情。教师可以利用多媒体技术,网络资源等手段从其他渠道挑选情景生动、语言地道、富有生活气息的视听材料,例如教师可以在网上下载一些有关人文地理、异域风情、历史文化等英文视频短片,还可以下载一些英美影视、例如英文电影《TheSound of Music 》,《Sleepless in Seattle》等等。电影中的语言生动、实用、口语化,学生们非常感兴趣,对提高他们的英语听力有很大的帮助。

(4)学习速记法,形成对自己行之有效的一套速记法。 听力材料往往过长,可学生的记忆力有限,即使刚刚听懂了,也可能因忘记而选不出答案,这就要求学生学习速记法,形成对自己行之有效的一套速记法,延续记忆,帮助听力答题。下面举例说明听力速记法记的一些技巧:

1.不要大量记录文字(汉字、单词) --而要使用符号来表示意思(缩写、图形) Eg:"powerful country"记作"强口", "我同意"记作"I√ "; "观点,看法一致"记作"⊙ same", "economic development"记作"经↑" ↑表示"上升、快速上升、快速发展、快速上涨等" ↓表示"下降、减少、急剧下降、急速下跌等"; ↗表示"缓慢上升,缓慢发展、缓慢上涨等"; ←表示"返回,倒退等"; →表示"达到,至,导致,前进等"; +表示"加,增加,此外,另外,又加之"; -表示"减少,减"; >表示"多于,大于,强于"; <表示"少于,小于,不如"; ∵表示"因为,由于"; ∴表示"所以,因此"; =表示"等于,相同,与……相同"。 t表示thousand;

m; 表示million; b表示 billion; 1st表示first。

2、不要横着写 --而要竖着写,竖起来记有利于保持活意思意思以及数量等信息之间的逻辑界限。

3、逻辑关系要清楚明了,不要记流水帐。 以上是一些通行的的原则。通行的原则存在,通行的方式却不存在,这是因为每个人的对记录符号的使用可能是多样的,同一事物不同的人可能会使用不同的符号,同一符号在不同的人意识中肯能代表不同的意思。

(5)扩充背景知识。减少语音依赖,提高推理策略能力。

丰富的背景知识,会对听者的听力理解能力起到积板的效果,实践证明,听者对语音的依赖越大,其推理策略能力就会越低。理解听力内容本的能力就会相应较低,英语国家的政治、经济、文化、历史、地理、风土人情及生活习惯等,常常贯穿于英语听力材料之中,英语学生应当博览群书,了解中西方文化的差异。有意识地积累西方文化背景知识。努力减少听音过程中对语音的依赖,提高推理分析能力。

听力练习是个长期的过程,只有一直坚持下去,我们才会逐渐提高听力水平。
